چکیده

The energy spectrum of cosmic-ray antiprotons (p̄’s) has been measured by BESS successively in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1998. In total, 848 p̄’s were clearly identified in energy range 0.18 to 4.20 GeV. From these successive measurements of the p̄ spectrum at various solar activity, we discuss about the effect of the solar modulation and the origin of cosmic-ray p̄’s. Measured p̄/p ratios were nearly identical during this perfiod, and were consistent with a prediction taking the charge dependent solar modulation into account. PACS: 98.70.Sa, 95.85.Ry

Effects of Solar Modulation on the Low-energy Cosmic-ray Antiproton/proton Ratio

We examine the transport of cosmic-ray protons and anitprotons from local interstellar space through the interplanetary medium to Earth and discuss the resulting e†ects on the low-energy antiproton/proton ratio at 1 AU. We Ðnd that the antiproton/proton ratio at energies above D3 GeV is a useful diagnostic of cosmic-ray transport in the Galaxy. However, at energies below D1 GeV the expected rat...

Antiprotons at Solar Maximum

New measurements with good statistics will make it possible to observe the time variation of cosmic antiprotons at 1 AU through the approaching peak of solar activity. We report a new computation of the interstellar antiproton spectrum expected from collisions between cosmic protons and the interstellar gas. This spectrum is then used as input to a steady-state drift model of solar modulation, ...

Expected Enhancement of the Primary Antiproton Flux at the Solar Minimum

We calculate the solar-modulated energy spectra of cosmic-ray antiprotons (¯ p's) from two candidate primary sources, i.e., evaporating primordial black holes and the annihilation of neutralino dark matter, as well as for the secondary ¯ p's produced by cosmic-ray interactions with interstellar gas. A large enhancement toward the solar minimum phase emerges in the low-energy flux of ¯ p's from ...

Solar Latitudinal Distribution of Solar Flares around the Sun and Their Association with Forbush Decreases during the Period of 1986 to 2003

Solar flare events of high importance were utilised to study solar latitudinal frequency distribution of the solar flares in northern and southern hemisphere for the solar cycle 22 to recent solar cycle 23. A statistical analysis was performed to obtain their relationship with sudden storm commencement (SSCs) and Forbush decrease events (Fd) of cosmic ray intensity. An 11-year cyclic variation ...

Measurement of the cosmic-ray low-energy antiproton spectrum with the first BESS-Polar Antarctic flight

The BESS-Polar spectrometer had its first successful balloon flight over Antarctica in December 2004. During the 8.5-day long-duration flight, almost 0.9 billion events were recorded and 1,520 antiprotons were detected in the energy range 0.1–4.2 GeV. In this paper, we report the antiproton spectrum obtained, discuss the origin of cosmic-ray antiprotons, and use antiproton data to probe the eff...
